Switcher, I don't think anyone has told you lately but let me say it again. Thanks for all the designs! It's a lot more fun to create things on the CNC when you have a library full of DXFs to work with.

Good morning.
yes it sure is fun to have dxfs a library. Moi I seek. With inlay in (Z).
Here there are only drawings in 2d and no 3d.

Switcher,
Let me say thanks too, for your volume of designs. Not long ago I cut the flying duck from your library. http://flickr.com/photos/davidcousins/2541509678/
I added some flourish to the wings, but otherwise the design is from your collection.
Thanks,
Dave
Was able to find evaluation version of win zip. (Not worth $30 for one use)
The dxf doesn't look as nice as the product.
Run the bit outside the lines and use a V shaped cutter.

When I need a logo cut, I go to the Brands Of The World website and see if I can find an EPS of it. Ghostview converts that to a DXF very nicely usually, although it is always many G01 moves (many little straight lines). Logotypes is a great resource also, but it seems to be all .AI files now. Two questions...
1. Is there a setting in ghostview to have it detect arcs better?
2. Is there any free (or not) software which will make a good dxf out of an .AI file?
2. Is there any free (or not) software which will make a good dxf out of an .AI file?
Try inkscape, I use it all the time, its free and it does a great job: http://www.inkscape.org/
teamtexas, & Glidergider.
Thanks, glad you both enjoy the DXF files.
Glidergider, good job on those wings, I couldn't do that angle in a 2D file.

What I use is a 90 degree drill point end mill. If you never cut deeper than the bevel it makes a 45 degree slope against whatever you outline. Then you can pocket half that path away to leave a slope up from background to the character you are outlining.
For a better understanding of this , look into Vetrick's v-carve pro. Or better yet, spring for the program if you can squeeze the price from your budget. My adult children just bought a copy for me for my 66th birthday and I have fallen in love with it. Check out the photo of the Celtic cross above.
