Turning off beeping at tool change

    Hi,

Does anyone know how to turn off the beeping when the tool changer is in operation? On one of the Haas we have it moves along quite quickly so the beeping is minimal; however, one machine is much slower and the beeping is irritating. The service man tried to help us but he was unsuccessful.

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi Guy,
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I found the Haas beeper too loud even at the quiet setting. I popped open the panel and removed it. I have not missed it.

I put a piece of duct tape over mine, the beep is pretty low now. Darn loud from the factory.

I don't know about older machines, but my '07 VF-2ss doesn't beep at all during tool changes because it's not supposed to. Questions:

-Do you have a spindle probe?

-If yes, does the beeping only happen when changing the probe in/out of the spindle?

-If yes, you need to spin the probe off after using it.

Who knows, maybe mine is supposed to beep but doesn't.

He didn't specify but I'll bet it's a toolroom mill. The beeping is the 'get out of the way' message to the operator. Enclosed machines don't need it because you can't get your hand in the way (unless you override the door hold setting).

Gotcha. Thanks for correcting me Greg. Don't ever do it again.

    I didn't think I corrected you...just added to it.

My TL-1 will drive you nuts on the tool changes (same thing: beep-beep, beep-beep, beep-beep).

    Greg,

Yes, it is a toolroom mill and is not enclosed. However, our enclosed Super Mini Mill also beeps but because it moves so fast the beep is negligible. The toolroom is much slower and the beeping continues much longer.

I was hoping for a code to stop it.

Have you gone through the Settings and Parameters looking for 'Beep on tool change' or something like that?

I have several SuperMinis and Minis and none of them beep during a toolchange; I can't remember if the TM3-P beeps or not.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

Thank you for all the posts.

We solved the problem by unscrewing the beeper and pushing it into the unit. We then taped over the hole and now the sound is loud enough that the operator can hear, and nobody else has to.

I could not figure out how you do this. Are you referring to using "SETNG GRAPH" and punching in 601?

Basically, I need a little more info on doing this.

Be very careful the tool changer won't hesitate before doing a tool change with the machine set like this.

    1. Turn Setting 7 Parameter Lock to Off.
    2. Hit Emergency Stop to turn the servos off.
    3. Press PARAM/DGNOS. Key in 601, press down.
    4. Set Tool Change Delay 601 to 0.
    5. Turn Setting 7 Parameter Lock to On.
    6. Reset Emergency Stop and clear alarm.
