    Live Centers

Slater Tools makes retractable live centers with inter-changeable tips. I know these are most often successfully used on screw machines, but has anyone used them on a CNC machine? If so, could you tell me why and how it worked out?
If not, what kind of centers have you used on a CNC?

I've always been told never to use a spring center in a cnc, but never a good reason why. You'll still have the same load.

    Changeable points

ALLtra, thanks for the input. I'm also curious if any of your centers have changeable tips or points, and how valueable these are to you/everyone? The center below is spring loaded, but also has interchangeable points.

No, no changeable tips, but our machine has a live tailstock so any dead center is live....
    I use Royal dead centers.

I use a live center on my CNC but it's a TL-1 so probably not like your machine at all. Although while we're on the topic what applications are dead centers used in?
