I'm a total newbe on this scene. I'm a hobbiest and an rc racer/flyer (rc cars and rc planes) and wish to home some tools at home to be able to make some 2.2" wheels or my rock crawler, some chassis plates and some other stuff.

Thinking about to buy TheCoolTool Metal Line http://www.thecooltool.com/produktgr...uage=e&pg_id=7 or Xendoll clone Metal Kit - they have a metal kit, but still no shown on a web (http://www.xendoll.com/english/file/...ing_detail.asp)

Later (if needed) i'd upgrade it to CNC, using cheaper than stock steppers and drive board.

Anyone has some thought about it?

They're so tiny!

Seems like at least a Taig, and maybe a Sieg has more beef to it and gives you a wider range of what you can do.

You would like to turn 2.2" wheels for RC? I would not consider that little metal and plastic cooltool.
Seriously consider a Seig 7x lathe. It's a monster compared to that little cooltool lathe.
They run about 400-550$ depending on the vendor.
They are good little machines.
A Sherline is a great little lathe but expensive.
A Taig is also a great little lathe and more affordable than the Sherline.
Those 3 companies all have fantastic support by their owners. Tons of tips, tricks and mods etc.

Good luck, Metal machining is a fantastically fun and rewarding hobby.

You are probably right, soon or later (very soon) it will not be enough for me.

What do you think about multiSieg machines, M4, M6 ?
