bthomps5,
Why would you want to use format 1 on your fadal?
Sincerely,
Scott_bob
Every piece of software uses a different post processor, far as I know you can not interchange them (take a mastercam post and use it to post process a bob cad file). So you need to specify what CAD / CAM software you are using.
Sorry Dude
I dont use MasterCam and I always use format 2.
If you want to switch to VisualMill I can send you my custom posts.

The MC post for Fadal format 1 is called Fadal1 and is on your Mastercam CD, right next to Fadal2 in the post list.
i have searched and explored the prob is the only post on my cd is Fadal2? i have ver 8.1.1
bthomps5,
IMO, you'd be much better off using format 2 (fanuc like)
You don't need any of the fadal cycles for pocket milling or what ever, because you have Master CAM right? I think, if you give format 2 a chance, you'll like it much better...
What are your thoughts on this?

Just to keep the record straight, the Fadal pocketing cycles work in either Format 1 or Format 2. The only difference is that in Format 2 a "D" word must be called out to allow the built in CRC operate. In Format 1 the "H" code reads both the tool length and the tool diameter.

Why not use Format 1?
Format 2 is most similar (or the same as) to other machines. If you ever need to learn a control on a different machine it won't be so different.
Maybe this is a stupid reason, but I like it.
As well everybody I know uses format 2 and it makes sharing files and info easy.

The only real difference in the program is the tapping cycle. Do not think that Format 1 is a special language unlike Fanuc. Fadal made the Fanuc style easier and safer for operators. That is the only difference. Also remember that Fanuc controls are usually on machines with limit switches and Fadal does not have any. The G28 code is generally used with limit switches. Of the codes will still work on the Fadal, there are easier and better commands that can be used.
I customized the MasterCAM .PST file Fanuc format to a Fadal 1 format plus other things the other programer wanted.
I personally prefer the Fadal 1 format. The Haas mill uses a Fanuc format.
I switch between formats, it makes no difference to me. The Fadal format 1 requires less codeing - typing.
G54X-.----Y-.----Z1.G43H#D# (I place the D word here for tool comp)
versus
E1X-.----Y-.-----Z1.H# (The Fadal format one does not use the D word for tool comp, uses the H word)
Just simpler.
Safety - Quality - Production.
