I remember reading something about a Big name fast food restaurant looking into using the internet to have an order placed in for example.. Vancouver or Seattle , be taken by someone at a computer terminal somewhere in Asia, as it would increase profits and share values.

Every place I have worked at that was locally owned, and then bought by a public international corporation, was eventually closed and production moved out of country. Someone got a new yacht for that...

    USA, USA, USA!!!

I agree, whole heartily, with heilcnc! I say, look for the "Proudly, Made in the U.S.A." label, on as many products as possible. I'll also add, that I am sick and tired of seeing "assembled in USA, with imported parts"! In reality, we must purchase some things from abroad, but let's not be short sighted. What does it truely cost us, to save a few pennies (even dollars), at the expense of putting our neighbors on state aide?
While we're at it, GO USA Olympians!!!

There is a lot of manufacturing in the US. Mainly in aerospace and that doesn't necessarily mean defense. Lots of general aviation products made right here.

Do a search on EBAY for Made In USA stickers. Half of the sellers are in china!! We cant even make our own damn stickers!!!
Also, fire ALL of the CEOs and GMs of these companys that ship our work over seas.

I think it is pathetic, that AMERICAN flags are made in foreign sweatshops.

I have a Bridgeport 412 vmc with a heidenhain 2500 controller. I have never been able to get the machine to mill a part. All axis move with the jog commands the spindle turns, tool changer works. When I hit the "MOD" button the display askes me for an "electronic handwheel code". This is not the code where it asks for the interpretation code "jog speed". I have looked through all the manuals and can not find any mention of this code. I also have problems transferring G code from my CAM system to the heidenhein controller. This may be a lack of experience, my CAM program has the proper post for 2500b. I guess what I am looking for is someone who has knowledge of the 2500b controller to help get me started by answering some of my questions.

I am new to this forum so I am not sure if I am posting this in the right place. If not please inform me

I am a retired mechanical engineer who is trying to have fun in his home shop making parts for his streetrod

    Thanks

    Harry

Pretty safe bet that you posted in the wrong catagory, unless this is very subtle sarcastic commentary on "made in USA".
