    Max Tool Dia. Umbrella Changer

    Hello,

I have a quick question regarding the max. tool diameter for an umbrella style changer on a Haas VF-2. The book says, 3.5"/ NA to adj. empty. Does this mean i can't increase my tool dia. by leaving the (2) adjacent slots open? I am trying to use a boring head for a 90 mm hole (3.54").

    Thanks

    twitte,
You can indeed use a larger diameter tool by leaving pockets next to that pocket empty. I know someone who uses a ten inch cutter - and it goes in the umberella tool changer nicely. Just be careful on weight thats all. To be honest I could not tell you a weight limit - but obviously the larger diameter tool you use - the heavier it is likely to be. If its too heavy then you could risk bending the disk.

    Hope this helps
