    Paramount Browns Mill?

    Hello Everyone, first post here.

I've been looking to get into metalwork for a while now and am attempting to select a good first mill to buy. I'm a South Australian and have been looking at a mill from a local place called Paramount Browns which by just looking at its specs seems alright for its price. The problem is that I can't seem to find anything about them anywhere on the net. So I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about this mill, or possibly even used one.

It's an MMD-45, I'm not sure who makes them, it could possibly even be built in house. Here's a link to their product page.

I'm a bit of a machinery newbie so I don't really know what to look for if I had to go look at it myself.

Apparently it is a chinese made mill. The guy on the phone couldn't tell me where in particular it was made unfortunately.

Hi Stinger, the mill is basically the same as a ZX 45 or an HF 45 etc. They probably all come from the same factory out of Taiwan or China. The only difference you may see is in the spindle, morse taper (MT4) or R8. Depending of what you want to do MT4 should be OK but in my books R8 is a better option if available. For a small mill they are quite good and lend them selves to CNC conversion quite well.

Most are chinese copies. But good bang for buck.

When comparing prices, make sure you look at the included goodies.
Some come with the stand, lamp, vice, etc, some it's extra. (Some goodies are rubbish, and you wouldn't mill your dog with it).

    They're a common conversion base:

So much so, someone modelled it:
