    Release of Gearotic Gear software

    Hi All:

    www.gearotic.com has just been updated to allow for the demo download. The program release is in 1-2 weeks, and the demo is ready to go. Join the contest at www.gearotic.com.

    Gearotic is a gear design and cutting program for Mach3.

    Thank you. Im getting many such letters these days. It seems more and more people are discovering the program. A new version 2.0 will be out soon with a much cleaned up interface and some new options. V2.0 will prepare for the full
    3D operation of the program.

    Hi,

    Is there any good explanation available for the output project page for all the input fields, like depth of cut, max dept, etc.

    I have a licensed copy of gearotica

    I have a gear on my lathe, 42 tooth and about 1.750 diameter (only info I have) that have broken tooth.

    That is the gear in the transmission for feeding (goes with the worm gear)

    As yet, just the tutorial on outputs. Hard to say fromt he diagram exactly what you need, but the outputs page woudlnt be
    used to match the gear really, just the design. Id design a gear with 42 teeth and play with the module or DP will you find one thats 1.7" in diameter.. thats probably the right gear .. but you can compare the teeth on the design page to try to match it to what you see.

    As to outputs, the depth per cut is 2.5d cuts, thats bascially the gearwidth on a normal gear. If its 4th axis the depth is the root depth, so you dont need to set anything..

    There's an option for 1:1 printing, will try and see if it's match the real gear.


    This is a Grizzly lathe so those gears are from China so look like cheap.

    Replacement part can only be available at the end of March. (called Grizzly)

    Don't want to made the new one with hard material because I prefer being the gear that break instead of the worm gear.

    The gear is .5in so will made on the 4th axis.

    Is the max dept of cut is calculated by the software and should not be change and what about cutter diameter.

    I had to play with setting to get 42T with the real diameter of the gear.

    I have designed one but was not sure about the output project tab.

    In 4th axis cut, the depth will be the root depth, but the length of the tool may need to be longer. On the spur screen its listed as "Min Tool length". This is due to the need to tangentally shave the tooth. The max diamter is the one listed as "Max Tool Diamter", you can use any diameter smaller though.

    I forgot the 1:1 printing.. it is VERY exact and done at max res of the rpinter.. ( mine is 1/9000 th of an inch). Ive done the same in the past, dropped a gear on the page to check it..

    Well, it did not work for me or at least, don't know what I'm doing wrong.

    For the first teeth, the Y axis displacement is way too far in the plus and minus direction and angle of rotation is almost 30 degree, which is not possible for a 1.750 gear. I have included a part of the program generated by the software and maybe you will see where I did wrong.


    As you can see, the Y goes up to .419 and the A rotation is 29.5 degree
