Today I decided to finish the air cleaner lower pan. I found a piece of scrap large enough and faced it and turned the OD.

The air hole and mounting hole were both drilled from the bottom side.

The ID of the mount was bored with the boring bar

Then by some miracle, the part was parted off.

Then the front was cut to shape and that is where the camera battery died.

It was finished off in the CNC mill. I think it is a close replica of a 14 inch Edelbrock. Only without the Edelbrock.

Made a few carb parts today
    Air bleed adjust screw

    Fuel adjusment screw

    Fuel fitting

Finished the machine work on the rear float bowls by adding the fuel passages.

what size screws are those! Sooo small. How are you even tapping those? Being that these parts are so small, do you have to use special mini end mills and cutters on your mill/late?

They are #2-56 X .500 long. The screw was drilled with a .029 drill bit and then the .030 needle was pushed in with a little loc-tite on it.

Nothing special used. Just need to take your time and make light cuts.

Scratch carburetor off the list. Thanks to Mr. Bob Farr I was able to get a piece of brass to make the barrels. Everything is made except the throttle lever and the gaskets. I think I'm just going to wait until everything is done and make gaskets for everything all at one time.
The screw to the right adjusts the fuel and is adjusted at full throttle. The screw in the center will adjust the air bleed to lean out at idle.

    Throttle Diameter?

    Hi there,

    First off.. Awesome work!
If and when you make some plans for this little beast, I'll definitely be purchasing them!

Just wondering if that throttle diameter will be big enough? Or do you plan to open it out during your tuning process?

    Hi Nick.

I have 49 pages of prints done right now and another 20 - 30 to go. I am to the point where I have caught up with the drawings. I now build from my own drawings. Easier to catch errors and omissions.

Throttle will be big enough. Most people tend to over carb, even full size hotrodders. I started out small but I doubt there will be any changes. The engine needs atomization and that size should provide a small enough area.

    Cheers!

"technically" couldn't you enlarge these plans and make a much larger engine? Say like a 1 liter v8?

I imagine you could but there are plans for larger engines that would be a better choice. At this size there are things that are not included like pressure oil system. Personally I wouldn't.

I've not seen plans for a radial engine for airplanes.

    But...

Elmer Verburg published a set of plans for a radial steam engine. That might be a starting point for something you could design yourself.

Well I'm getting real close. All i need to do is part off the ends, cut a flat on the front shaft and thread the rear shaft. I'm not going to do anything fancy like counter weights. I don't want to screw it up.
