Hi all I thought I would give Autocad 2011 demo a go and so far its awesome gutted though as I can never afford it after 30 days).

But any who I have a problem

I am trying to create a circle where you can see the red circle I did in paint shop.



I cant seem to get there as the WCS is wrong all so I cant get it to snap to the centre on the line you see the dot on

Please help.

Assuming you want a hole going through, here's what i'd do.
I'd draw a line across that area, between the midpoints of the 2 vertical square corners. Do the same on the opposite side, and draw a line connecting them.
Then just make a cylinder with the correct diameter, and long enough to go through, align it to the line, and subtract it.

Wow GER21 you get every where mate I didn't expect to see you in this thread category.

Unfortunately I have tried that but it wont align the circle to the radius plain just side on.

Yes I want to bore the hole out to the other side but like I said every time I place a circle even with the method above it puts the circle flush with either the X or Y axis I want it 45 degrees between the two as you can see in pic.

Just to show you (sorry not on main pc now)

even doing it the way above it all ways puts the circle in the position of the bold red circle.

Hi again damn I cant at the moment as im not near me main pc.

Will the demo allow me to save? as I did not save it but I can create it again easy enough up to the point of creating this circle :P.

I don't usually move my UCS. I'd just create a cylinder, and align it to the line through the center of your part. Use the Align command.

I cant seem to figure it out no matter what align tool/snap to I use it cant get it to work.

You have you're line going through the middle. Now, create a solid cylinder, longer than it needs to be, with the correct diameter.

Type ALIGN.

Click the center of one end of the cylinder, then one end of the line, then, the other end of the cylinder, then the other end of the line, then hit enter, 3 times I think, and the cylinder will be where you want it, ready to subtract.
