Series 1 machines have a backlash adjustment??
I have done series 1 machines and there is no adjustment that I am aware of. Backlash can appear from many different causes, there is no way to adjust it out- it needs to be eliminated. I have never heard of a ballscrew having a backlash adjustment either, unless it is 2 separate nuts loaded against each other- which is not the case in my BOSS 4 Series 1 machine.
Please let me know what adjustment is available on the series 1 machines.

Curious to know what costs more on a "well worn" ballscrew to fix. You are just putting larger balls in the nut to compensate for the wear. There is a point where the wear is too great, the larger balls will bind at the ends of travel, and the screw needs to be reground.

Here is a good writeup on how to adjust a BP1 unless I'm misuderstanding what this guy is saying but I don't think so.

A BP1 is pretty different from a BP2 at least mine. On a BP1 there is one master ballnut serviceing both axis's on a BP2 they are seperated

I should've been more detailed for the 400$ he is regrinding the screw and reballing. He tells me it will be as good or better than factory. He came highly recommended

That article is about ACME leadscrews. I thought you were talking about adjusting backlash in ballscrews.

$400 is a great price to regrind...almost too good of a price.
