I am working on a Atrump Mill with OM-D control.
When rigid tapping (M29S300, G84.......), at the bottom of the stroke, the Z axis does not synchonize with the decel/reverse/accel of the spindle.
I see this happening because I am using a tension/compression holder. At the bottom of the stroke, I can see the Z axis stop very fast, the spindle decel, and the tension holder start to pull out. The faster the spindle speed, the further apart the holder pulls out.
I am pretty sure the mill is able to do rigid tapping because I can do peck tapping (i.e. Q0.1) in the G84 tapping command. So the spindle must have an encoder for spindle orientation.
Has anyone ran into this problem? Is there a parameter that needs to be change? Without solving this problem, I can't really tap faster then 500 rpm and I have to use a tension tap holder.
Many thanks in advance.
