    EXLAS photos

    Hi all
as I promise I am posting some of our early cutting and engraving using EXLAS 1280 Last cutting and engraving products..
1-Over look to the EXLAS . nicely design I have to admit.
    2-inside motor very nicely fixed
3-provisional ball screw lifting table with 2 motor drive
4-side reflecting mirror, easy to be alignment.
5-excellent output cutting and engraving wood at very high speed.
6-side door looking to power supply and controller.

My over look of the machine and its performance for our work, we are very pleased with the results. Sharp and clean cutting acrylic and wood. Engraving we do need to do some tricks in Photoshop and get excellent result from the EXLAS. For any architect need to do models, I hardly recommended over the EPLOG, it is much easy to handle and faster and cheaper. My advice don’t get 80w power you will not need it , 60 is better for us, we do have plane to get smaller EXLAS 6040 instead of fixing our EPLOG, re filing the 25w laser and getting new mirror and lens will cost us more than 2.5k. adding lettil more than we will get new small EXLAS in office.
    Mohammad

Lots of reading just to say never buy Chinese, which is why I came here in the first place - to read about the Chinese lasers from Ebay

I bought a Chinese vinyl cutter (from a US distributor) - much to the disdain of everyone - and the "support" even from the distributor sucks, but a vinyl cutter with stepper motors is what it is, and anyone with half a brain can configure its limitations.. Suffice it to say, this machine has paid for itself 7, 8, 10-fold!

I haven't read all 57 pages, yet. There seems to be a lot of complaint from everyone about spiteful packaging and shipping details.

I used to order stuff from local, US dealers and have to wait 6-8 weeks for delivery. I have ordered from various China wholesalers things that arrive in 3 or less! Biggest (ONLY) problem I've ever had with customs is when ordering from Canada (I'm in the USA). (Namely, US Customs in Buffalo, NY) They were a bunch of ******** - I have no qualms about saying it because it is the truth.

I thought tho, for 600 bucks.. a toy laser might be fun to play with, but 600 is 600, and thought I'd read a little on the ol' 'Zone.. (man, I remember when this forum was smallish)!!

Okay - nuff said. Got like 40-ish pages left to read, here..

    FoamCaster,

If you want a hobby machine to experiment with the sub $1k Chinese lasers will do fine. Providing you understand some alignment may be necessary, and even some upgrades to get the most from the machine.

    Zax.

Hi. I don't post much using this username.. I have been on and off the forums for a long time (since it was small - imagine that!)

Going to try to sell my HobbyCNC driver box with 305 oz steppers to help pay for a Chinese made laser engraver to stat off with

I'm not expecting much, but a product with some capability should be attainable with a price tag of $600 PLUS. I just don't know what to look for.

Same happened when I bought a vinyl cutter. I went cheap, understood the limitations, and not being a total dumbass, figured I could do something with it.. hell - I've known guys that took a Roland blade holder and attached it to a homebuilt CNC to cut rudimentary vinyl.. I figured I could at least have a toy to play with. But alas, it turned out to be a very GOOD machine (for the cost) and it actually helped pay for itself many times over! (Plug for USCutter) Now, I'm looking for a Graphtec, but not because of problems with my cutter - rather - I'd like to have speed, and a bit better accuracy..

Same might be true with a cheap laser. Might be able to do some Christmas ornaments or something small, cheap, and noobish. Maybe it would pay for itself - I'm not expecting a lot really. I DO want the damn thing to work, tho. Getting it shipped to me in pieces doesn't sound like any fun... Not being able to do vector work might be something to actually cherish! Many time I had wished my cutter had some sort of raster-image follower like my friend's Roland has..Especially with text.

wrote an email to the rabbit laser dude.. I dunno.. worth a look..

    Help

    Hi everyone,

We have a problem with our Chinese laser rabbit se9060
Few days ago water in laser tube was frozen and laser tube, when water defrost, was destroyed. We changed a new laser tube and everything worked fine one day. We were cutting some materials, turned of laser for few minutes. Then we turn it on again and imported new drawing the laser doesn't cut anything.
All motors are working- we can move a laser head accros a table. Laser display screen also works, we can download anything to a laser, it cuts a shape, but with no power at all
When we open a laser tube and press "laser" button for testing beam- NO SPARKLING in a laser tube at ALL !!!
    What could be a problem?
Laser tube should be good, because it is changed to a new one and worked properly for few days.
Maybe it is something with a supply unit ? I opened it and were is 2 red led lamps and they don't work when a laser is turned on. maybe there is something else/ I taked a few photos inside, but don't know how to show them. I could send them privatly to email, just say. Maybe you could see anything wrong?
Please help- we need a solution quickly to save our orders and clients

Remember what I told you 6 months ago :drowning:

First of all ask professional electrician check all high voltage connections in laser. He must check not only connections, but also quality of isolation.

    Grounding/earthing?

Do you have safety switch on your cooling sustem, which do not allowed to laser work if something is wrong with cooling?

How old was your second tube? Delivered with laser? Where it was keeped? Cold room also?

Do you have spare power supply?

    Hello guys,

I am writing to ask help with choosing a laser engraving machine.

I'm going to open a small busyness, I will perform engraving in glass (battles, wine glasses), phones, laptops, wood, painted wood, plastic, leather etc.
    I can afford to spend about 7000 - 8000 $ for buying laser machine, I'd like working area about 18" x 12" (457 x 305 mm) or more.

I know that engraver from such companies as Epilog, GCC and Universal are good, but they are quite expensive for me (Epilog 45 watt MINI 18 cost around 11 500 $) .

What other companies that have a laser engraver machines similar to "Epilog Legend MINI 18" , but a little bit cheaper, can you suggest me???

25w will be enough for your applications. You wont need 45w unless you are intending to cut a lot. You can probably get a 25w machine much cheaper than a 45w one.

Agree with Rodney - 25-30 Watts will be OK for most applications and 12 Wt also could be acceptable for start. Look on GCC C180 lasers.

    Thanks for advices.

However GCC C180 lasers on ebay is 9 000$.

If I buy GCC C180 12 watt laser, can I change to 25 or 35 watt later?

Is it reasonable to buy some Chinese lasers for example iehk.com?

Is it risky to buy GCC C180 used one? What have I pay attention to?

You will get a 400 x 600 50w machine made by a reputable chinese co , along with enough spares and accesories to keep you up and running for less than $3000. Up to you as to how much handholding you will need and how handy you are with doing your own servicing and repairs as to whether this is an option

What you write work well for USA, but will not work for this customer He will have extremely long and expensive delivery and final price will be twice higher than purchasing. And get new tube will be nigtmare for him.

Well, I live in South Africa , much further than Eastern Europe from China , and it's not a problem for me , 2 lasers will cost me $1500 all in shipping/clearing/duties etc.
I ordered my lasers with spare tubes , power supplies , belts , motherboards , stepper motors , bearings , lenses , mirrors , lcd panels , limit switches etc.
    Total for a 1200 x 800 80w and a 900 x 600 60w + rotaries , + a gazillion spares for both etc is $9500 + 1500 freight etc. Still cheap....
I'm also going to China in April and will visit the factory (I've already checked the co out online , seen the machines , spoken to sales and tech reps on skype , spoken to others with the same stuff re service , trustworthiness , I have tried the machine with my own Corel files and am happy with the results - not as good as my Gcc's but perfectly acceptable)
I'm experienced in the laser field , not sure If I would go the Chinese machines route if I were starting out from scratch , I already have a large customer base and a very well established business , at those prices the machines are disposable to me , if I get a year or 2 use outa em , thats fine.

I too would suggest this user , if a "newbie" at it all , to go with an established mainstream make.

Eastern Europe, especially CIS countries - unfortunately this is not SA. Freight will be more expensive, but most problematic will custom clearance and delivery from sea port to final destination by ground. Get glass tubes also will be not easy and cheap.
And you have money fly to China, check quality and etc. IMHO this is key difference between two purchase.

So, you say that buying A Chinese laser machine is reasonable due to the their low cost. Which chinese company do you advice to buy from: iehk.com hxlaser.com or hflaser.com?

I'd like to buy something like IE900 Laser engraver IEHK Laser & CNC Systems Co. Ltd: Laser Engraver, CNC router, Printer, Cutter Plotter ?
