What era is the cnc 4 from ? I have an M40 on my mill that I would like to convert over to emc2 sometime- if I can figure out how to interface to the servo amps.

I have a cnc4 control from around 1991, mine is serial. I too have wanted to try emc2. Are you bypassing the centroid "computer" and simply using the power supply and stepper drivers? What are you using for your control board? Or did you find a way to interface emc2 without gutting the cnc4 control? I've been drip feeding my cnc4 using gtkterm (version 0.99.6) which works but it's slow, emc would be faster and capable of holding larger programs.
