    Building Foam Lathe

Hey guys hows it going? I am trying to get into this as a hobby and play around
I have seen a few sites where people are making large columns out of foam.
What would I need for say 8 foot cutting area as far as power supply and wire???

ONe other question I was wondering I have seen people cutting moldings and trim to with lots of curves and corners where they have bent the wire to the molding profile. What kinda of wire would be used here so I can make shapes not just the straight lines?
any help or advice would be great on this thanks alot

use some thick resisntace wire (like nicrom) maybe 1.5mm or 2 mm , you can bend it into a shape that you want.
but you will need a high power supply to make it work

you could probably make a L shaped wire or a loop and use it as a cutting bit like a normal lathe but just go really slow....although I thing this would be very inefficient.
    thanks
