Got busy and cranked out the 4th axis adapter tonight.
Could see the haters hatin while I was working but I'd rather spend my time
    doing something productive.
Seems to have taken care of itself.
Family coming by tomorrow to help with my new bed so I'm glad I got this done.
This 4th will be done in no time.

Really love the machining of adapter plate and perfect mounting on the 4th axis... How long it took to machine the adapter and what CAD software you are using...

Thanks Khalid, took about an hour or so all together.
I use Autocad for most of my drawings, been using it so long it's like second nature,
can pop out a drawing pretty quick.
I saved a few basic drawings that have a lot of the text and such all ready to go,
just have to open then add the drawing and save the new file.
Gives me a nice print and I can use the dwg or dxf in my CAM programs.

Got another project to add to the list, a version of this bead roller.
You can get this one that's 18 inches wide on ebay for around $135 but
I just want one with about a 6 inch throat.
That's good enough for 12 inch sheet that I'll use for the PDB and motor enclosure.
Want to add some ribs and such for looks and strength and I already have the parts/stock to make one.
Don't want to get into the incremental sheet forming again, can't find the tips I made before.

thought i saw one of these in your workshop in one of the pics you have put up.

    Keep up the awesome work

Naw, I have a little 12 inch shear and a little 18 inch bender I think were in a recent pic,
this should get me setup for sheet metal work.
    Well, setup enough.

    Gear Mod

Hoss, I have the G0704 and have been thinking of doing spindle upgrade, and a gear mod. If you had gotten helical gears would the gear swap you have a video have produced reasonable results? I don't want to mod too many things but would like about 4000 rpm, do you think this would necessitate a more powerful motor?

On the motor front, I still have the stock motor but would consider changing that if it is not too far off the original dimensions. I've not torn apart my mill to measure but wonder if you could give thoughts about how well the motor would fit on the current mount? Would it get in the way of head tilt? I was thinking either a Kelig or BF25/30 type motor.

Not looking to start anything before spring, but am trying to put some plan together. Any thoughts you guys have would be great.

    Steve

Using helical gears would be a little quieter than the spur gears I used.
You'll lose a little low rpm torque but it'll be better for aluminum cutting with the higher rpm.
Keling motor? the brushless one they sell still isn't performing like it should
and he reported the supplier is out of business.
The bf30 motor I used would probably strip the plastic intermediate gears in the head pretty easily if pushed too hard.
Works great with the belt drive.

Alright, we have a(nother) 4th axis, almost, still need to make a motor cable tomorrow.
I was able to reuse an old X2 stepper mount and standoffs so it was a piece of cake.
Used the same setscrew oldham that I used on the G0704 so I know it'll be strong and dependable.
Now I'll need to make a few more adapters for this one, 3-jaw chuck, 5C collet fixture, tooling plate and maybe the trunnion, eventually.
