That package is awesome. I will be calling keling soon I want to pretty much use that kit but with a ethernet smooth stepper and a c32.

Any way Hoss so I am contacting grizzly tomorrow to see about exchange but while all that is going on I would like to get a jump on the enclosure for the cnc. Dose your pan prints included on dvd take into account the y extension piece? Cause if it does I can start working on that and ordering electronics.
Also what kind of paint did you use on your wood to seal it from oils and cutting fluid, oil based or spray enamel?

    thanks

Good idea to let grizzly know, they may fix you up right.
The tray was for the stock mill with front stepper.
The width is just right to sit atop the pan on the stand.
For the y extension just put a big notch in the rear of the tray to clear the column.
Probably need to seal around the column and y spacer.
I used marine topside paint, very tough stuff.

You should note that using a 5.6 amp driver for the 906 oz/in nema 34 stepper limits it to 831 oz/in.
I recommend using the 8070D to get the full torque from the motor.

For the Roton nut .1270 balls are good to go, .1280 not so much.
Just double checked Tool supply on Ebay and don't see either the .1270 or .1280 balls now,
I only bought one package each so don't blame me.
Better email him and ask if he plans to get more, .1270's at least.

Thanks for the heads-up! I just grabbed a bag of 100 for mine since they were not available when I originally installed it all. Got to redo the Y screw someday anyhow so I will hold on to these till it's time to break the mill down to go to the new outdoor shop.

Yeah the .1270's feel real good and should have almost zero backlash.

Would .1275 be perfect if they could be found? What about using double nuts?
obviously everyone wants the most accurate machine possible. If you get some figures on backlash please post them. From what i can tell many of us are at the buying electronics and upgrading screws stage of out build.

Hoss thanks for leading the push for g0704 improvement

Probably not maybe .1272 would squeeze in there and still spin, the .1280 had to be forced.
    Don't want any binding risk.
Double nuts could use the stock balls but 2 nuts would take up more room in an already tight area, no problem for the z though.
.1265 balls got me .0008 backlash before so I don't bother with comp that small.
I'll change to .1270's on the machine next teardown for whatever.
Been over 2 years now of testing things on the 0704. I'll keep at it as ever newer items come along just like these balls.
As bigger ones became easily available, I got some to try out.
Trying to get a quote from Nook like I did years ago for the X2 on the costs for a set of XPR screws and nuts
but they only want to sell full assemblies with bearing supports, flanges and end turning.
We'll see what she gets back to me with without that stuff.

What size balls should be used with the linearmotions screws?

  16. #3396
I haven't received the screw and nut from linearmotion yet to test, coming soon.

How much actual Y movement is everyone else getting? My PM-25 is giving me just a bit over 6.7" I'd like to get back to around 7" like it had when it was manual. Not sure if there would be an easy way to get that back.

Is your ballnut hitting some casting flash on the base? You should get the same travel as stock.

Not sure, it stops hard right there. The ballnut is facing forward... Pointing towards the front of the casting. I thought I had done it the other way around.

Facing forward is correct. The ballnut mount should still be able to hit the slot ends front and back just like stock.
Maybe your 7 inch travel was without the Z bellows?
