bearings you can buy in 0.0005" (or less) increments from some suppliers on ebay. its cheaper if you can buy them already set up correctly of course, but if you need to change existing blocks, it should be fine. 20mm blocks take 1/8" balls (yes, not metric). 0.1255 should get you medium preload.
its a trade.
less preload = less friction = less wear and higher speeds.
more preload = more rigidity and more stiffness.
in the case of a raptor, id think light to medium is good. no preload is actually adequate, although cutting aluminium i did notice some vibration at the blocks. even then i still have a good finish in relatively heavy cuts in aluminium
what you DONT want is clearance (which is also an option from most manufacturers). this means the blocks are loose, usually for accomodating sloppy alignment in non precision equipment.
Anyone knows the torque needed for setting the various raptor screws? ex (end frame to extrusions, profile rails)
Cyprus customs wins the world slowest port customs award. Arrived Feb 13th... still waiting.
George, nice seeing you in Toronto today. Thanks for making the trip to get me the hardware I needed. It was nice of you to add in the drop-in nuts, over and above.
All the best
John
What one company rates their blocks might not be same as other company.s, C5 ballscrew from china that they rate, nsk or THK rate it as c10 if not a lot higher.
As a few people know , putting tbi blocks on rails its a little hard at first, So would not want any less clearance then that .

Two quick questions this evening:
1) Are you still offering Mach3 licences? If yes, what's the best way to buy one? I can't find a link on your website. A related question on the Mach 3 add on package - Any opinion on whether it's worthwhile?
2) 4th axis - I know this was discussed a while back on the forum here. Is there a 4th axis offering from Xzero at present or planned?
Thanks
John
Demon end frame with center 4080 if using dual ballscrews . having a total of 3 if using dual or single ballscrew it will be 2 4080 profiles
