Gerry, I will try this for sure. Do you have any reservations about the wmfout/wmfin method? (selected spline, wmfout, wmfin, scale x2 and it dropped right into its spot) I tried it last night and seemed to very simply replicate the target spline. I do see that it is not an "editable" object now, but that it not a problem for me as I never intend for this spline to change shape. Are there drawbacks in terms of accurancy or problems that arise on the G-code side vs. the method you proposed?
    Thanks!

Never tried the wmf option, so can't really comment. I've never had any issues exporting .dxf files from AutoCAD, and I've been doing it every day for over 15 years.

    I must misunderstanding something here..
what I see theres some issue with the exported dxf..

yet... the lines and arcs could be readable for any program..

what I tried to showing the splines can be converted to Bezier.. what actually used in corel adobe and lookalike enroute..

what I posted spline zip that actually the eps file, what forum didn't let upload that's why I zipped.. have you checked the file?

the spline 2004 dxf is the exported file.. for comparing the dxf and eps..

last year when I tried clayoo a rhino modeling plugin, the 90 day rhino trial could read autocad files and eps files too
    and write both format..

also when I checked the dxf codes some of them for tolerance.. the 42 and 43 for the knots and control points.. or on-off points..

wmf export I used from v 14 under win 95 or win 3.1 long time ago.. it somehow was distorted when I imported into other programs..

again sorry if I misunderstand something and not proper my answer..

edit what he posted the dxf , a rectangle with radiused corners that's a good file..

I found one issue with the wmfout/wmfin... since it seems to create an image rather than an object in the DXF file (I think), besides moving it, you can't actually manipulate the shape...so if you have 2 splines that connect to each other, if you don't get the location exact, you can't connect the splines. I am still working on this.

Regarding splines, I read something about outputing to PDF to get rid of splines. My CNC guy says he can import PDF into Adobe illustrator and then export out of that as a DXF. Do you know if that would automatically convert the splines to polylines or maybe line segments/arcs? I thought I had read that somewhere here.
    Thanks again, Gerry

You can try the SPLINECAM & FontCAM app in Autodesk app store.

    http://apps.exchange.autodesk.com/AC...tcamtrial%3aen

    http://apps.exchange.autodesk.com/ACD/en/Home/Index

It converts splines & texts into smooth polylines & polyArcs which you can easily import into any CNC software.

Just import your file as auto cad dxf from en route version 4 option in the drop down dialog. Works for me!
