Is this why when I called them up they said all they will do is test if its working, they will not repair anything? What happened with my motor was that it would rotate only one direction. I would press this arrow key < and the motor goes this way <
then I press this arrow key > and hte motor goes this way <

The CN0165 uses an HCPL-2231 optoisolator. My guess is your direction opto LED is damaged; they are relatively delicate (5mA max) compared to the opto we use (50mA max).

Were it a G201 you'd take the cover off, remove the bad-boy opto from its socket, replace it with a new one and you'd be good as new.

How much do you think that 203 is going to run as far as cost?

    On par with the G202.

I was doing a search on which Gecko to get for some steppers and ran across this thread. When are these new drivers going to be available and should I wait to buy them instead of any of the aforementioned drivers?

They will be available sometime in September.

Thanks. Since that's not but a month away, I'll get to building everything else for my TAIG. At the rate I'm going, sometime in sept. will come and go before I get close to being finished, so I'll hang on for the new drivers.

do you have any new estimates on when the new drives will be ready for sale ? I am just about to start a conversion and I want to know if I should hold off until you release the new design

What encoder resolutions will the 203 GeckoDrives work with?

They are stepper drives. They don't use encoders.

Mariss is working on a closed loop stepper system I thought or rather was hoping this would be part of it and something that could be used in "single axis" closed loop operation.

That's with the G100. He calls it the "unstallable stepper", not closed loop. The encoders will need to connect to ther G100.

    Talking Any G203 Updates?

    Mariss,
How is the G203 project coming along? Do you have any pricing info? Need any Beta Testers? . Think the G203, option #2 is a big improvement over existing designs ( I should know because I'm one of those users who has experienced "some difficulties" voltage wise with the G201 and its descendent the G212 . Note: My 2cent$ -- The G212 is a big improvement over the G201 and it's awesome once the voltage/mobo/breakout board issue is resolved.

    Improvement..

    Hi Mariss,

We have used up to 40 of your drive up to now, a great improvement will be to replace the front connector by some better. We have troubleshoot many defective drive or intermittent , if you remove the connector more than 3 times, the pins doesn't make contact correctly and you could see the spark in the drive case....

The newer black connector is a nightmare for us, we have 6 machine sold that we have trouble with until we have replaced the connector with new one..(But it need to be pushed 1 time only to be sure...)

Maybe a good solution is to ship the drive with the connector separate never installed(We need to remove it anyway to mount the drive on panel...)

    Thanks,
    Alex
