The break in was on the Weiss 30LV not the IH.

I have a belt drive on the IH and not the Weiss, which is stock.

I did upgrade the IH spindle bearings to AC but you don't need to do anything to the 704 or pm-30 spindles if your running the stock motors.

The stock bearings are roller and really strong. Over twice as strong as the AC bearings, they just make more heat.

With light preload and good grease they should last many years if they don't have a bunch of junk in them from the start.

The 704 and 30 run a smaller lower bearing that should be rated for higher speed than the Rf-45 mills. I checked the rating of the smaller top bearing on the RF-45 spindles and it was rated at 7000 RPM I think. The big lower was the one with a low rating which I forget what it was but I think it was around 4500 RPM.

With proper break in and light preload and good grease the 704/30 spindles should be fine at 4000 to 5000 RPM if they are good to start with.

I have decided to get the PM-30MVL. I emailed Quality Machine Tools and they have them in stock.

While I wait for it to show up, does anyone have the Solidworks model that was floating around? I'd like to start designing mounts and such. Thanks!

    Cool, good luck with it.

You going to do a conversion log on here?

I have not seen a solid works model. I did an openscad model but that is all I have seen so far.

yeah, I plan on doing a log. certainly on here, but also in videos on youtube and on a blog.

I think in longrat's thread someone had a solidworks model.

bummer on the openscad, it doesn't seem to convert to anything that solidworks can use. I'll see if I can find out where I saw the model.
