Good to know. I'll put that in my notes and use it the next time I have a thin wall project.
I did some reading on the Autodesk Forum about tolerance and smoothing. What I got out of it is the combination of the two should equal your machine tolerance holding capabilty. Then adjust the tolerance to smoothing ratio from 1/1 to 4/1. The focus of the subject post was to minimize file size and decrease generation time. Nothing was mentioned about improving surface finish. All this being said I have to start somewhere so I'll use .001" for smoothing and tolerance and see what that does and adjust from there. I've got a couple of mods going on with the mill, Y axis bellows cover and Z axis lubrication pump, then will get back to it.
