Thumbs up I still need help trouble shooting this issue.

Well I built the 9 pin to 25pin cable and have it plugged into the correct port on the computer. I am getting closer. Now I get P/S alarm87 or 85 depending on how I set the stop bits, data bits and parity. My book doesn't say how to correct the alarms. I have been playing with it for more than an hour and can't figure it out.

I still need help trouble shooting this issue. I have Cimco edit for transmitting. Is there something else that can work better?

    Thanks.

9 out of 10 this is the hardware handshake, as long as you are on the right port and there is nothing wrong with the port, can you output from machine to PC?
Did you make up a 3 wire cable or the full handshake null modem version?

    Hi Al,
This is the diagram that I referenced to.
    http://www.kfasllc.com/rs232_cable.htm

It looks like the same that you gave me. The visual is good for me. I have know idea if this is a null full handshake or 3 wire.

As for outputting from the machine I don't believe that I can since there is only an INPUT button. There is no OUTPUT button. It is a system 3M Fanuc controller.

    Thanks again.

Did you set the transmit S/W for software handshake?

Yes.. I have tried software, hardware and the hardware & software combo flow control. I have tried different stop bit, data bit and parity configurations. Some bring alarms and some configurations don't put the machine into alarm. It just sits there blinking LSK.

There are Xon and Xoff characters. That I haven't played with.
    Example:
    \17 Xon
    \19 Xoff

There is also buttons to turn on and off. They turn on and off automatically with different flow control options.
    Example:
    Enable DTS
    Enable RTS

    FIGURED IT OUT!!

I finally got it figured out.:banana::banana:

I wasn't typing in the program number and then pressing input. I was just pressing input. It has been a long time since I have used and older control. I have been using floppies on Haas or CF cards on the Fanucs.

Al I really appreciate your time in helping.
    Thanks

    Hi teamjnz,

We have a similar machine than yours, Kitamura, Mycenter-1, with Fanuc 3M controller, recently we losted all memory contents, is there a chance that you could give us a backup of your PC and PMC parameters???

I really hope so, and I thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi,

Sure I can get you a copy. It will be either Monday or Tuesday. Just want to fore warn that my Z axis multiplier is set different from stock. Someone changed the encoder and put one for 10mm pitch screw, it should be a 6mm off the top of my head, I believe. If you still want the files let know.

No problem with that, we will be careful with that parameters. We'll need the NC and PC param. please. What we need mainly are the PC parameters, they are on the diagnostics screens. I will wait for your reply monday or tuesday.

    Thank you very much.

I will take pictures of CRT screens with my parameter numbers and upload them. They should work on a 1983 machine.

    Until then...
