Hello again!

What filetype do i need to save as, when i want to open it in artcam 2008?

I use AutoCAD 2009.

I always import .dxf files into artcam.

Artcam seems bad about creating errors with little tiny gaps and things that you don't see, can be a real pain to find them all sometimes.

You set a max depth on your V carving, if the width of the v cutter does not cut the whole width of the letter while staying above the "maximum depth" then it will take multiple passes. If you want single pass letters you need to either increase themaximum depth setting or use a cutter with a larger angle so it makes a wider path.

The DXF file, what type DXF do you use? "2000/LT2000" or "2004/LT2004" or something else?

I don't use autocad, its just dxf for me. It shouldn't make a difference to artcam, try both and see.

Hello, i try to import different DXF files, but this is how they became in artcam.

Try saving the .dxf file as version 12 or 13 .dxf

How about just making a toolpath to clear it? Just use a big cutter with 99% stepover and it will not add to the simulation time too much. I don't know of a better way to do it.

How do you import Rhino 3d model to Artcam?

it's a 3d dxf model that I downloaded from cnc4free.org I tried to open it in Artcam but it's either I don't know how to do properly or it's just won't accept those 3d dxf model. It would get error. Btw I could open and alter fine in Rhino fine those 3d dxf model.

Hello. I see i can import an model. If you click on the "reliefs" on the top of the screen, you can import 3d model.

But i can`t see how to make a toolpath?

Thanks Vegabond, you can create toolpath if you select the toolpath tab on the bottom left hand corner there.

Yeah, i know that, but how do i make a toolpath on a 3d model? i can`t select any lines... when i click on the 2d button to the top, i don`t see any lines to click on, and i can`t click on any thing on the 3d view....

If you see on the picture below, you see trough the material where the tool has milled. On my artcam it doesn`t show the white color there the tool milled, but the same color as the material.. Why?, i have same, or more cut depth than the tickness of the material...

Hello, but how do i select a vector? i see no vector`s in the 2d mode, and i can`t select anything in 3d mode....
