Here's a little video showing I could easily get 10 inches on the X now with the remote extruders
anymore and the glass bed would hit the frame and also the fume extractor.

For the ABS fume extractor, I made the filter and filter lid from this thingiverse thing
Simple Fume Extractor for ToM with 80mm Fan and Carbon Filter by scootnfast - Thingiverse
    and this 80mm fan bracket
Quick and Easy Fan Holder (80mm) by Stu_Dkn - Thingiverse
As you would guess it uses a standard 80mm pc 12v fan.
I ordered some charcoal air filter from Mcmaster.com #20695K61
This is the power cord support for the plug outlet in the rear.

This is for the power switch support, I made the blank one.

Suck the fumes up and out to where? Just put it in the bathroom with the fart fan on!
Btw, that switch link on thingiverse from an fdavies, I bet that is the Frank?Davies from the Houston Hackerspace. He built an encoder cover for a robotic arm (this was the first time I ever saw a hobby printer do anything in person.) Small World

The charcoal filter is supposed to take care of the odor.
Not a problem for the other, they smell like roses.

Jeremy, give it a while. IIRC it takes A minute to load.

    Hoss,
You have really shown the capabilities of these 3D printers and seem to make it easy for anyone wanting to get into the hobby. I however am busy with the metal working portion and so I'm selling my fully assembled H1.

I just don't have time to mess with it now days with all my other commitments. If you or any of your fellow followers are interested in it they can contact me via PM.

I know you already have two or three of these printers in progress but I didn't figure there was any sense in mine collecting dust.

I might sell my kit still in the box too, don't see any point in going down that road now.
Mach 3 was the attraction in buying it but of course one doesn't need the other,
mach can be set up to run a prusa and ramps could run an H1.
Like most others have said, a bigger second printer made from aluminum/linear rails/ 80/20 or whatnot more
like a router would be better time spent.
I'm hotrodding the prusa a bit and it will be a great little printer that will get lots of use as time goes.
Now that I've got the RAMPS figured out and see how much it can do in such a small package
I don't see any benefit in trying to use Mach 3 as the control unless I build something that needs nema 23 motors
    and my bigger drivers.
Working on a few more pimps for the prusa first though.

    Possible hardware issue

FWIW, watch out for poor fitting hardware:

Sorry to say but they need to learn how to lube their machine.
A daily squirt of oil will do wonders.
The z rods aren't exactly breaking any speed records, they make one slow
    climb per print.
Still, I guess we'll have to look at a ballscrew upgrade.

It appears to be the nuts that stripped.
You can get better quality nuts to help with that. That and lubrication like Hoss mentioned are key on these I think. I also use a spring in mine. I lube with light weight 3in1 machine oil.
Seems to do well, but I only have about 24 hours of printing under the belt so far.

After watching that generally I would be conerned. However after owning a Sherline with 1/4-20 screws that ran via CNC just fine, lube would do wonders. A little bit of backlash is to be expected but you can definitely keep it to a minimum.

  14. #414
I used springs in the z axis too which act just like a double ballnut setup to eliminate backlash
but I keep the spring force reasonable so wear isn't accelerated.
    We'll see in 9 months.

I am sorry but that is obviously the wrong nut for the threaded rod.

could be M8 on 1/4 or something else.

  16. #416
That was my first thought but he claims it wore out after 9 months in his video comments.
Also it is a video by scribblej who comes up with some cool stuff in the 3D printer world
but may not have been much on machine maintenance as the threads look pretty dry.

Some all thread and or a few nuts, that is going to cost some bucks? Never mind I was too stupid to catch the sarcasm.

How well did your Mark IV hot end fit your Gregg's extruder. Mine is loose as a goose. It fits my Wades extruder nice and snug.

I guess I will have to wrap it with some tape or something. I am not impressed with the print quality of the one I just got today. Some of my first prints looks better than what showed up today.

I sure hope your is better.
