Never fails, save something for 10 years, decide its trash and throw it out, then a week later you need it. Good job saving it for another week! LOL

@ 3space: --> Quote: It is $9.30 for a pack of 10. I just bought mine a few minutes ago. Shipped to Montreal Canada, total cost was $10.60. <--

Tried to buy 2 packs of 10 pcs. of those but could not get them sent to Europe as the minimum order value needs to be $200,00. :-(

Can anyone perhaps recommend a source to obtain these springs in Europe?

    Thanks - Ard

A google search for "disc springs uk" turns up several links.

Yes I saw that too, I'll check the technicla details of the ones you specified and search for equivalents around here.
What force would you recommend for a 1 -1,5 kW spindle? would 2000 lbs be OK for normal use?
BTW: Did you post details (or a vid available) on the making of your pneumatic cyilinder?
    Thanks - Ard

Yes 2000 for that size motor on this mill would be perfectly fine, that's close to what I'm running.
There is this pic of the 3 stage air cylinder I made.

    Hi Dan,

Well it is actually meant for my DIY steel - epoxy granite filled benchmill, which is in progress at the moment.. underneath the column, right after the paintjob.

I will buy that cd from you.
    Thanks!

Well, I hope at least it will be better then the SX3 I currently own, try to keep the total weight around 200 kgs.
Am looking forward to have it working with THK25 rails on X, Y & Z. axis. Am thinking to use the LMS KX3 spindle.
    Cheers!

    Hey Hoss,
Just been plowing through your DVD material and this thread. Noticed that on your X2 you used a counterweight. Any reason I haven't seen anyone do that on the G0704? Maybe they have and I just haven't found it yet. Seems like a good idea, maybe the 906oz motor makes it unnecessary? Just curious.
Happy Memorial Day to everyone, If you know a vet thank them

Not necessary, even with the 570 oz/in stepper for the Z it's possible to get well over 200 ipm.

The room looks like you should be able to get quite bit done in there. The fact that so much of your stuff is on rollers should help tremendously.

Do you still have the RF-45 type mill I saw in one of your video's a while back? It would be very interesting to see one of those get the same sort of treatment you've given the x2 and 704.

Yeah but it's in the basement with my g0602. Haven't got a way to access them yet. Had big plans for them when I moved them in down there but oh well.

Ya, your new digs looks great Hoss! Do the wheels work well for the mill? It sure would be nice to be able to move mine without hauling out the shop crane every time... Did you move houses, or just retask one of your rooms?

  20. #4780
Yeah the wheels work well for moving the mill around, I still need to get/make a hoist to lift it on occasion so I can get to the top of it.
Same house, two months ago I was sleeping in there.
