If done over I'd leave all the lower inside brackets off and not have to notch any of the rails.

I'm into my 2nd rail for the doors. I had thought about that.. but, I don't think the doors would be rigid enough without the inside brackets. Especially around the hinge area where you leave out 2 screws per bracket.

A bit of an update on the things I've been working on for the mill.
An outlet box for the side of the head to plug in the probe, the dewalt spindle and a spare.
A new y home switch cover that will take the tubing I'm using as wire protection.
A cover for the rear y belt drive.
The new bigger terminal box with more room for expansion.

I remember a time not too long ago it seems. Where I thought, if this Hoss guy would start tinkering with 3D printing, we would all benefit the same way we do in machining. ?mmm ;-)

  10. #5210
Yeah some people think 3D printers are only good for making whistles and other trinkets.

Hoss, quick question on the spindle control via Mach3 through a C6/C11 board - did you replace/bypass the start/stop switch with a relay?

I still provide power to the controller/motor manually with the old switch from my x2.
Gives me a nice kill switch if I need it.
The C6 takes the motor to 0v with M5 but power is still on to the controller.

Got it, so modified the trimpot for low speed to make sure it gets to 0 as opposed to 50RPM or whatever the factory default is, correct?

  16. #5216
Well I think it was more the pot on the c6 being adjusted correctly.

The new and improved terminal box is wired, lots more room for extras later.
The cover came with a big hole in it so I filled it with a custom insert.

The mill wiring is basically complete now.
Used the former terminal box to organize the wiring on the rear of the stand that connects to the pumps and valves, etc.
Made a newer switch box that goes under the tray at the front to give manual control of the things that are normally under relay control.
Used different switches so I could basically feel which is which without looking.
Left to right is power drawbar, oiling system pump momentary, coolant, spare and air blast momentary.
Now to connect it all to the console which will get a little reorganization too.
