You are going to need to hook up a fan to the opening on the spindle or you are more than likely going to burn it up. If I remember correctly the manufacturer recommends 250 cfm of air movement.

Yeah I have one that will be delivered today but I didn't know the 250 cfm. Thanks.

We went through two spindles on our multicam, until I researched myself. I found out from Colombo it needed a lot more than the 50cfm fan that multicam had on there. Since I put the 500cfm blower, not one problem. We run ours non stop 8-10 hrs a day.

Yeah there's not much literature on this older spindle, But I have a squirrel cage fan coming. What type of fan did you end up using?

Ok cool. That's similar to what I ordered. And you blow the air into the motor or suck it through?

just changed my coolant with "TRIM SC520" and this is some thick stuff. I only mixed it 5:1. Anyone else use it? I normally use astrocut synthetic

Finally got the tool changer functional and almost done. I ended up swapping motors again. I didn't want to worry about heat so I put a newer Colombo motor on that has an hsk 40 taper.

Very nice implementation on the tool changer. I like how the tools and holders move way out of the way at the end of the cycle, very well done.

Thank you. I still have to o make some kind of cover for the top of the holders. I never thought too much about it but being hsk holders, there a hole in the middle for the fingers on the motor. That's a great place for shavings to pack in and no way to get them out.

Thanks a lot. I'm happy that I've been able to get it where it's at.

It’s been a while since I’ve posed anything so I figured I’d take a video while I’m sitting here watching this thing run.

This is a 1/4” depth of cut at 11000 rpm with a 10mm bit

Dillonfitz, great machine. I built a similar style machine a while ago out of Epoxy Granite. I was thinking of using similar motors, although I'd prefer to use them in analog control mode with feedback to linuxcnc. How do you find the step direction control?

    Thanks.
The drives that I use use the step and dir outputs just like stepper drives. There's a parameter within the servo drive to set the input to digital and also within he smooth stepper confit I unchecked the step/dir box and checked the cw/ccw
