Yep, sure did. The knot characters are actually rounded a little by the way the characters are designed by Dan at the www.clanbadge.com website. There are parallel vector lines along the length of the knot characters that somehow do a shallow stair step that gives the appearance of rounding downward. It's not an optical illusion. With Vcarve operation for the knots I don't set a depth limit, the vcarve is allowed to go as deep as it wants to.

C1., I like that downward affect I showed my wife she likes it and she is finicky as H**L bless her heart. I thank you for the link..

Looking good C1 !
I like the P much better.
On the board with that name on, is the carving deeper at the bottom than the top , or is it a trick of the light ? The top of the top knots looks thinner than further down.
I hope you don't mind the way it seems I am always looking to crit ... but I am just trying to learn from others before I try
I think your work is too good to just comment "Nice Job" all the time !

That font is called Edwardian Script ITC and I used the bold version. I just happened to have it installed and don't know if it came with Win 7 Home Edition or if it was installed by some other software. I apparently missed it or thought it was too thin the first time I looked for a script font. Glad you like it better, and so do I.
Look closer at the characters and you will see that one side of the knot characters have the parallel lines that create the shading and the top side has a single outline. When they are all lined up in the same orientation it looks shaded darker toward the bottom. Compare the row of knots above the text frame and below the text frame. They look the same relative to each other. If the shading was done on both sides of the knot character equally it would look more balanced.
It's possible that the cut depth is shallower at the top of the plate because the oak plate is very slightly cupped. I didn't run it through my surface planer before CNC'n it. The camera angle probably doesn't help either. You can see that the top line of the outer frame (farside) appears to be narrower than the bottom of the outer frame (nearside).

This knot design is made up of digital vector line characters. In Vcarve Pro I open the text editor and find the Clanbadge font that is the 3D font that I want. There is a separate keyboard map that shows me which keys to press to get a particular set of knot characters that link together to get a knot shape that I want. Supposed it was "qwerty" . Those letters show in the text editor, but when I click OK the vector version appears on the Vcarve Pro screen. At that point I can edit the individual vector lines and do anything else just like I drew it myself. On the Clanbadge site is a tutorial that shows the printable keymap and explains how it is used.
I can export the vector lines design to AI, EPS, and DXF files. If your wife's embroidery machine's software can import any of those formats she can design embroidery with this font set. There are solid and outline versions of this font also. I doubt she can use this shaded version. CNC Zone's Khalid has done a lot of work with DIY embroidery machines and there is a forum here for that.

I will post some photos of the assembled Paradise box by 5pm EST today. The only thing that remains after that is to add the buttons and the handles, which are not made up yet.

The box is now glued together with Titebond III. The top plate is not yet attached to the hinge with screws. It will be a tricky operation to have the small gaps along the end plates align equally. I'll wait until tomorrow to do that and make a final decision about what to do with the buttons and handles. Meanwhile, I need a break from all this hard work.![]()

Nice job on the hinge gaps.
Nice job I bet your sister will like it...

Thanks FannBlade,
The gaps are "as cut", so the original CAD versus actual cut dimensions are quite accurate. I used paper shims to get it centered like shown in these photos. My next photos will show the final results of the gaps and how well the screw installation job went.

Hey guys, I lied, I couldn't stand the idea of not finishing this thing today. I made a decision about what to do with the buttons, and it wasn't anything I mentioned previously. I found an old pack of antiqued brass upholstery nails that match the antiqued brass handles I already had and went back at it. I cut the nails to 1/4" length, filled the button holes with 5 minute epoxy, and set the nails in it to cure. Saved a lot of time versus making eight buttons on the lathe.
I like it, and I think she will like it also.
Look at the knots closely, follow any one of them around the design, and you will find that they are all closed loops.

The nails fit right in good choice all in all a very good looking box is that red oak?

Very nice C1! It is hard to tell the scale from the pictures, what are the dimensions?
Thank You.
