Re: WidgitMaster's Largest Steel Router Table Project 9ft x 5ft x 8" Water Cooled Spi

    G-Code question?

I have code which starts in the center at x0 y0, and spirals outward. Then it moves inward 1.0 inch and is finished.
The problem is in MACH3, as when I go to Manual Input tab, nothing I enter will work and I get an error message in the status line stating there is a missing component to the G3 R commands!

MACH3 must be shut down & reloaded to get anything else done!!

    Can anyone help?

Here is the project I've been working on, the spiral code flattens the top prior to V-Carving the details!
Source code is in VCarvePro format

Not sure what you're trying to do with the spiral code and MDI??
The code loads and runs fine here.

Yes Gerry, the code works perfectly! But after its done, if you go to MDI and enter something like X0Y0, Mach3 gives me an error message !

You don't have a m30 or any other reset at the end of your program. Since your last g-code was a g3 it is still trying to move in a arc. Try G0 x0 y0 or g1 with a feedrate.

Its been a while since my last post, so here is an update!

BIG RED is running like a top, but all attempts to set the spindle's electronic brake failed! So I contacted the seller who told me the circuitry in the VFD inverter has never been installed, that's why it's non responsive😡 Well, it's no big loss, other than the 70 Ohm 300 watt resistor that I paid $14 for !

So here is a picture of my latest carving on Big Red!

    Is made from a 40" long 2x12 pine plank😇
    6 cutters !

You probably figured it out, but the error is because Mach3 is still in G03 mode. IN MDI, type G0 or G1 before your X0 Y0.

Re: WidgitMaster's Largest Steel Router Table Project 9ft x 5ft x 8" Water Cooled Spi

For months now, I've been trying to make some really cool large plaques! Finding the right material, and keeping it flat on the table is definitely a challenge ! So after many try's, I have a great solution to the problem ! Make a fixture out of MDF and use Oak dowels to pin it to the table. Also, I found threaded brass inserts at ACE hardware. So I wrote a prog to drill holes through the MDF fixture panel and into the table. Then I removed the panel and drilled larger holes in the table. Next I installed the brass inserts and ground the tops off the inserts so they were slightly below the surface.
Then I cut some short Oak dowels, 1/2" diameter. Then I glued them into the panel leaving enough protruding from the bottom side, to align the panel with the holes in the table! The remaining dowel protruding from the other side, will be cut flush when I mill the fixture surface. Also, I milled G29 on top surface so I know which offset to use for this fixture!
Because Lowes & Home Depot sell panels with different dimensions, I made a fixture for each vendors panels! Lowes panels are edge glued Aspin, Home Depot sells common pine panels which are thinner & narrower! The Aspin panels are softer, and require newly sharpened cutters or the surface fuzzes up, requiring lots of sanding
Next I drilled holes in the fixture for 10x more inserts. Now I have to make the clamps, Hard Maple will do the job nicely!

This morning I made another plaque out of a 40" long 2x12

This one was not without problems, as the federate of the large 1 1/4" diam x 90 deg V-Bit was too fast.
This caused the cutter to snap off

Took 5x different cutters, an about 37-minutes run time!
