Depending on wireless might not be the best decision. IMO

I've got an old wireless keyboard that is subject to interference from my mill spindle.

I just want the least amount of issues between me and the machine/EStop. I have the APP on my iphone and it lets me run the machine too, but I dont trust it. There is a small lag in communication. I ran a shuttle pro for years and really enjoyed it and its versatility (not its durability). I now run a iMach3 by VistaCNC. Very nice unit, solid and very well executed.

I've now fitted everything in my enclosure and hade a start on the wiring the only way I could fit the computer in there was to use a shelf bracket that the computer will sit on then 2 pull ties to stop it tilting on the brackets. I then pull tied the computer power supply to the computer . It works and that's all I'm concerned about

I've been busy spending again today I've got the wireless keyboard/trackpad and a TV bracket so I can now get the TV on the wall and get busy with wiring up the motors

Tomorrows game is wording up the little 4 pin sockets and recalibration the machine again slightly. I can now see the end is near

If anyone is reading my build with intentions on doing the same I'm now in £2400

A lot of money but endless opportunities and an ability to make money with it and make what ever you like.

So more pics to keep you all entertained

I've now fitted an LED plate inside the head of the machine which lights the whole garage up!!

I've wired the motors and switches up with very nice conduit and sockets. All I need to do is wire the other end of the sockets to the drivers and control board.

I will be making a front plate when the machine is back in action to hose the E stop so it will hide the LED and focus the light

One thing I've noticed when machining things round is at 0, 90, 180, 360 degrees there are flat points. Little odd I think. What could this be ?

Could be backlash I think. Mach 3 does have some settings that would help with that. Then again, I think when it's backlash, it's only flat on two sides. Hmmm?

And the control board is scrap !!!!!! Little tip folks, don't connect ground to a common.

Anyone know of a better replacement in the uk?

Old Truimph's had positive ground systems. You would have been in luck in that case.

I hate it for you. I killed my very first stepper drive with an uncovered motor wire that touched the case. Many of us have had our share of kills. Are you talking about the spindle motor drive or the steppers?

Now is the time for a good board. Try a PMDX or similar.

I suggest a post in the electronics section or pm "Al the Man", he can guide you on the ground and common connections, however I dont think that was the cause.

The more I think about it, ground to common should not have hurt anything. Fastest1 mentioned it and that seems reasonable. I read so many threads that I don't recall your setup. We can certainly help you troubleshoot the problem.

    Re: CNC Project !! AMA25LV (G0704) Mill !!!!!!!

COMMON is NOT necessarily the same potential as GROUND. COMMON simply means a point that is shared across many connections. On some motor drivers, and BOBs, COMMON is jumper-selectable to either 0V, or 5V. COMMON should never be connected to GROUND unless you know it is the same potential. Otherwise, you could be shorting the output of a power supply, which can have undesirable results.

    Ray L.

I dont understand the nuances of the electronics as Ray does. I do know that on my HCNC board, I couldnt stop noise issues until I tied the common into the star ground (where the ground from the power supply was also connected). I had tried almost everything prior, wire separation, caps, higher debounce levels. Nothing else helped. IIRC I was told a method of testing the ground potential prior. Though I think at the time I was so frustrated, I winged it and it worked. Most likely luck as I have let the magic smoke out more than once, I even tried inhaling it ;-) It created no magic that I can tell.

I got the board in the link, it sounds easy enough to setup. It even has a feed rate nob
