    Help!, Plasma machine setups

    Hi,
I started converting a cnc router to a plasma machine, made a floating head for this machine today but not quite sure how to set Z axis offset.

This is what I have done so far:
Machsupport :: Plasma Floating head moving video by happytriger2000 - Photobucket

The Microswitch is wired at port 1 pin 12 and +5v.

Read some post related to floating head setups, and the following is what the Z axis should do before piercing

G00 X6.000Y6.000 (rapid to first pierce point)
G28.1 Z.5 (move Z down towards material and Z home switch is tripped)
    G92 Z0.000 (reset Z DRO to zero)
G00 Z .085 (raise Z to Swtichoffset value so tip is setting on top of material)
G92 Z0.000 (reset Z to zero as top of material)
    G00 Z .125 (raise Z to pierce height
    M03 (fire torch)
G01 Z0.063 F60 (plunge Z from pierce height to initial cut height)

    My question for now:

    1. If I use Sheetcam would it produce the code above with all the correct values entered in the tool chart?
From the video I sent, when the z axis lower down it stops when the switch is hit, what do I do next, Do I zero the DRO and raise the z axis above the plate manually? or is there another way of doing this?

    thanks,

As far as I am aware, all you have to do is enter your POST variable "switchoffset" in Sheetcam.
I am sure someone will come aslong soon with a better answer, but it should give you something to go on.

And now Ive said that, Ive just found this thread with an excellent answer from uncle Thom

    Thanks,

Can the offset be done without using Sheetcam software?
