I want to build a CNC mill that can carve and engrave wood or plexiglass, but I am not sure what motor to use. I was thinking a Replacement Wood Router motor because it has High speed and High torque and is made for cutting through wood, but they use (I believe) 120 volts, I also found a 36 Volt motor (can be seen here) but is $300.I am also wondering what should I look for when trying to find a motor? I would appreciate any help and/or suggestions anyone might have.

Why is 120V a problem?

Mine is 240V (european standard).

You power your spindle/router off the mains, not off the power supply used to powering the stepper motors.

Can I hear what people are using on their Mills?

I dunno - unless they're really loud, you probably have to stand quite near.

I am less interested in hearing them than I am in knowing what make and model they have.
