I noticed that most leadscrews use a bronze nut and a steel shaft, but I haven’t seen many companies offer bronze leadscrews instead of steel. Is it a good idea to have a bronze leadscrew with a bronze nut – or is this just not a good idea?

Bronze/steel is a great combination for a sliding surface like a half or beariing. The bronze is softer, provides lubricity. It is also the sacrificial part. Put it where you want to replace someday. That's why its the bushing, not the shaft. Or the half nut, not the lead screw.

with use the bronze nut will wear evenly....keeping the Pitch of the lead screw the same all along the screw.
Alu Bronze or oil lite provides natural lubrication qualities and this quality is required at the interface between the nut and screw. Steel has a higher tensile strength and is cheaper.
