    Help. DB25 interconnect

    I bought a new DB25 cable with male connectors at both ends, to connect the computer (Mach3) to a CNC4PC breakout board. For 2 days I have been trying to test the most elementary arraignments, with no luck.

    Finally, I tested the pinouts of the 2 male connectors. There is no logical correlation between the two. The pin sequences are not the same, they are not reversed and in fact some pins do not even transmit a signal to any of the pins in the other connector.

    Could someone please explain what I bought and what the problem is?

    Thanks.

    Al,

    I can't remember since it was tossed out quite a while ago. There is nothing unique about the cable except for a part number [P3D50610GLD] and name [Belkin] on the connectors. A search on the part number brought up nothing, plus it probably only applies to the connectors.

    I did the same thing a month or so ago. The cables sold at places like best buy are for transferring files through the parallel port, and are not straight through pin for pin. You can get a cable that will work from www.rogersmachine.net

    It is most likely some sort of cross over or null modem cable. Are you sure that number is right? A F3D508-10-GLD is here:

    Mjarus;

    The part number you gave [F3D508-10-GLD] is correct. It was just so hard to read.

    Using Ger21's mention of "straight through" the following Belkin cable came up; Gold Series 25-Conductor, Straight-Through Cable Assembly - 10 feet Part # F3D111-10-GLD

    Belkin wants $24.99, however a company called Audio-Discounters http://www.audio-discounters.com/f3d111-10.html is selling it for $4.11

    Ger21;

    To be safe, I just ordered the cable from www.rogersmachine.net

    Thanks gentlemen.

    I order all of my cables from cablewholesale.com. They show clear pictures of the connectors and, for many, diagrams of the cabling. They also have the best prices I've found anywhere. Like this one: http://www.cablewholesale.com/specs/10e2-05125.htm
