Hello,

First time poster. Looking forward to getting to know site.

I am a first time purchaser looking for a CNC router for high repeatability on a series of small MDF parts. I am thinking no bigger then 2x4 foot working surface and I have a very limited budget. The Z axis is not a large issue, but would need at least a couple inches usable + room for the bit.

As high as $5k is pretty much my ceiling, but would actually like to spend half that if possible. This will only ever make 1 or 2 parts in "Hopefully" high qauntities.

I would very much prefer to purchase US made product.

Any thoughts, suggestions, place to start?

CNC MDF?
Roll your own, and put the $3000 change in Junior's college fund.

Joe's machine is made from MDF and common hardware. He sells kits of the MDF parts all cut and I think he sells the hardware too, you buy your own steppers, mach3 and confuser, I would use different shafts and linear bearing setup, but his works and people seem happy with it. For the price it is hard to beat.
