    Glass windows?

I have checked out a few resources and can't seem to find any instructions on how to put glass in my 3d model windows..

anyone got a few minutes to explain?

    thanks!

If you'r modeling with solids, just draw a box the size of the glass. You then need to assign a transparent(mostly) material to it so it is transparent when you render. Keep in mind that it will NOT be transparent while you're modeling. Only when it is rendered.

so instead of putting a hole in the wall for a window, i need to make a layer for a solid material that is clear, and draw the window as a solid? I'm kind of self taught here, so its a slow process

thank you vm for the help!

It depends on how realistic you want it to look. You could just leave a hole, but by using a solid there you can add transparency, reflection and refraction to make it look more realistic. I don't think AutoCAD has reflection and refraction, though. But you can always export to other renderers that do.

Where in Autocad do you go to set solids transparent. Thanks- Robbie

You have to assign a material to the solid, and make the material transparent. Under View>Materials. Open the material library from there, and import a material. Then click the modify button and you can add transparency. You need to render the objects to see transparency (raytrace)
