feederic,
I am still going through this process myself, but be prepared to buy lots of tooling to start with. Hoss's site
g0704.com has a button "Accessories" that provides a bunch of links to starter sets and tooling. Personally, I purchased the LMS starter mill package and the LMS starter measuring package.
The starter mill package has a vice in it ... not the best vice, but I figured it would be a good start for a beginner like me. The measuring package has a dial test indicator in it.
In addition to the above, I bought a zero set indicator holder (mentioned by Hoss in his tramming videos) and 0.75" drill rid to use for tramming. I expect to buy a boring head, drill bit set, and iGaging DRO scales over the next month or so.
Since I needed so much stuff to get started, my philosophy has been to get the inexpensive starter stuff and then replace it with higher-quality stuff down the road (or when I break something).
Oh ... find a local supplier for aluminum stock if you can. Start stocking up on that.
Hope this helps,
slinger
