    Tool Path Generation Issue

I am just running through some of the tutorials in the manual and have hit this problem in more than one. I try to generate a tool path on this basic facing operation and it comes out all screwed up, any ideas?

I attached a word doc of the problem. The path should be completely vertical but it is slanted, not sure why.

Forgot to mention that I am running V21.

This could be caused by a couple of things. Make sure that you choose the vertical line first when your picking your geometry for facing. Also, check to make sure that the direction of the lines go from front to back and from center to od. Upload your file so we have a better idea of why this is happening.

First off you are turning a part.

It might be a good idea just to use your canned cycle from your machine instead of having BobCAD generate the tool path.

Depending on your post these canned cycles may be built in. I used the Fanuc 18I

Draw the profile you want to face

Select the profile and then go to the NC cam and choose the face canned cycle.

A window will pop up asking questions about the cycle fill in the blanks click ok

and then code will come up.

    N10 G72 W.05 R.1
    N20 G72 P30 QU.015 W.02 F3
    N30 G0 X-0.0026 0113
    N40 G1 X-1.2682 F20.
    N50 Y5.605
    N60 G70 P30 Q

Depending on what post you are using these steps will be different.

*** You can see I have something wrong because the Q is not calling what line of code to go to....

I think the issue with your file is you didn't have the boundary setup right. Try it again using a boundary like this.

This is what your tool path should look like. And you code will look like this:

    N10 G0 X-0.0031 Z0.0472
    N20 G1 Z-0.0028 F20.
    N30 G2 X0.0111 Z-0.0205 I-0.0017 K-0.0159
    N40 G1 Z-0.1028
    N50 X5.5875
    N60 Z-0.0028
    N70 X5.5375
    N80 G0 X0.1111
    N90 G1 X0.0111 Z-0.1028
    N100 Z-0.2028
    N110 X5.5875
    N120 Z-0.1028
    N130 X5.5375
    N140 G0 X0.1111

    N700 Z-1.2033
    N710 X5.5875
    N720 Z-1.1033
    N730 X5.5375
    N740 G0 X0.1111
    N750 G1 X0.0111 Z-1.2034
    N760 Z-1.2683
    N770 X5.5875
    N780 Z-1.2034
    N790 X2.7993
    N800 G0 Z0.0472

So you can see running the canned cycle is better. Why? Smaller code and if you want to make an adjustment you can just edit the canned cycle.

    Allen... You're one smart cookie.
All your tool geometries in one file so you don't need to go looking for them in the directory.

    Thanks,
