Pull studs – use thread locker?

Pull studs – use thread locker?

Good idea to use a medium thread locker on the threads of new pull studs? Or anti-seize? Light oil? Clean and dry?

It depends. If you're going to torque them, then anti-sieze or oil would be appropriate. (Proper torque according to most, by the way, is 85lbs/ft for CAT40)

A lot of guys have been finding that torquing pull studs that tight will actually deform the taper on the tool holder and have been using loctite and tightening their pullstuds barely past finger-tight.

I have all my pullstuds torqued to 85lbs/ft and on all of my toolholders there is a clear strip of contact at the top and the bottom of the taper, but nothing in the middle. This can not be helping the Haas rigidity issue.

I'm not suggesting you do the latter, just telling you it's an option.
