    Question Mechatronics controller blowing fuse!

    Hi,

I bought a kit off ebay, that included 3 used stepper motors and a 3-axis driver. On the driver board the company name is Mechatronics, but I can't find a manufacturer website anywhere. I bench tested everything, and it seemed to work ok, but now after installing the motors on my cnc, the z-axis doesn't work. When I connect coil A, and turn on my power supply I hear a squeal, and then the fuse blows. I can connect the same motor to the other axis and it works fine, so I have determined the problem must be with the board. Has anyone had experience with these boards or can suggest a component to check?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    A3977sed-t

I pulled off the heatsink and found that the driver is an Allegro A3977SED-T chip. I have a feeling that I have blown the chip somehow. I found an old thread that talked about buying these chips from newark.com but they don't have stock. Can anyone recommend a place to buy one? I think I'll buy a few just in case!

    Thanks,
    Chris

Well, I didn't get any help... but for those who are curious, I replaced the blown chip and everything works great again!

I have a Mechatronic controller but different model. Do either of you know where to download the documentation from? I was searching google trying to find their website - Keep getting links to college courses and such instead.

    Thanks
