I want to make this model in rhino

The problem im having is it has a round inside, and a 16 sided polygon out side. When I loft the 2 together, it makes it smooth. The surface needs to have facets. Not only that, it only needs 8 facets.
Any ideas on how to go about making it?

I think you're over simplifying the object. There are probably some comoplex surfaces where the facets meet the center ring. I'd try to model the facets and then try to blend them in.

I was able to take the shape of an extruded 16 sided polygon and drill the center hole in it by booleening a cylinder through it.

I then placed an aray of 8 boxes on the proper angle to booleen out the facets.

Now the inside curve of the model dips up and down like a roller coaster.

Is there a way to grab the dipping curves and set them flat again?

Sorry, im trying to work and teach myself at the same time which is never productive.
