snubber circuit for AC contactors and solenoid coils.

Both my retrofit package, and my inverter drive, may need me to fit snubbers, to the AC Coils. To be on the safe side, I guess it is best to fit them. Can anyone suggest suitable components and circuits, for small 200 VAC contactor coils and 100VAC solenoid Coils. I may also use 12VDC (Omron Style, PCB Mount) relays, to drive the solenoids, from the retrofit PLC. What is a suitable snubber for these?

    thanks and regards, Colin

Many contactor manuf make a cust clip in snubber for their products, if you want to roll your own, this PDF may help.

Now I am really confused. I thought the problem was with the coils, not the contacts. This PDF of snubbers, shows the snubber going in parallel to the load being connected by the contactor. Where as I thought the problem was in the contactor, or solenoid coils, and the snubber went in parallel with the coil?

The price of snubbers can build up, especially when we have 4 contactors and 7 solenoids to deal with. Can you use cheaper components and make the snubber circuit myself?

Actually in the application examples, it shows both across load (coil) and contacts.
I usually fit them across the load.
The AC snubber is just a resister in series with a quality AC rated capacitor which you can pick up at places like Digikey etc.
