Hi all ... and thanks in advance.

I'm just getting started with wire EDM and got a couple of very basic questions about taper cutting as I read through an old G code program and try to understand it.

The control is on a Fanuc Robocut and the questions are :

(1) In a sample line of code :
G01Y2.000V-.850
... if I am understanding this correctly the V value is the amount of taper or difference between the end points on the programmed surface and the tapered surface. The plus or minus determines the direction of the taper. My question is ... is the value of V determined by the distance and angle between the programmed surface and the opposite surface ( in other words the thickness of the part )? ... or by the actual distance between the head holding the wire at the top and the head holding the wire at the bottom?

(2) Can you explain in detail ... easy, detail ... the commands on a G02 / G03 line :
G__ X__ Y__ I__ J__ U__ V__ K__ L__
... Ok I know what the G, X,Y,I and J mean ... just not sure about the others.

Again ... thanks in advance. If you prefer to post some simple samples with explanations ... I wouldn't complain
