    Dream Machine

    Hello All,

I plan on building a machine someday and I wanted to ask the question on what to build in a new way.

I would like everyone to tell me what they would build given these guidelines.

    >total buget $6000
    >machinable area 4'x8'
    >assume computer already purchased
    >Assume acess to all standard tools, CNC Mill, Lathe, MIG and TIG welder
    >Scarpe Aluminum can be had for a dollar a pound
    >want to machine sheet goods, woods, plastics, and some aluminum
    >will need software for everything but CAD.
    >encurage the use of ebay for bearings, spindles, etc.

I would like to see what you would spec.

please give the product name, pricing, and source for each item you pick
I will compile the info and report back with the results.

    Thanks

    Timm

I'd probably build this and spend the extra $1500 for a vacuum table, dust collector, and maybe beefing it up a little.

Seem to recall thats about the range - cost and machine sizing of the CADCUT? Maybe do a quick search on that one here on the zone? Rack and pinion can be pretty accurate and less costly that ballscrews for linear motion. Cheers - Jim
