    Copy machine steppers question

I'm still gathering materials for my CNC Router and since I'm getting pretty close to assembly I'm starting to consider the steppers etc. My brother-in-law works for a copy machine repair outfit and might have access to old surplus machines. I was wondering if anyone might have an idea about the size of the steppers in these machines. I know it will vary with the machine size etc... but I just want to rule it out if they never or rarely exceed 100 oz/in.

    Anyone have any idea?

Don't rule out 100oz steppers too quickly. They'll move much more than you think that they will when coupled with the ramp of a leadscrew. What size machine are you building?

I'm currently building an all aluminum 24X36 capacity router. I'll have a 1.75hp router mounted and will be milling aluminum, MDF, and other materials.

I figure the gantry will be fairly heavy.
