Hi there, I have a complex 3D CAD model of a part to be made by a CNC machinist. I still haven't completed the internal and external threads in my model, and I am wondering if a CNC machinist needs to see these threads modeled precisely in my 3D model or if a 2D drawing provides enough info with the thread axis location and direction, and of course the thread diameter, pitch and length?

I hope that makes sense what I'm asking.

It is standard practice NOT to model the actual threads. Call outs are more than sufficient for any competent machinist.
