chart for correct speeds and feeds for lathe

Hi everybody. I posted another thread, asking for a settings chart for a milling machine. Somebody posted one, and it is so helpfull!!! I was hoping that I could get this same type of chart, but for a metal lathe. Thank you.

    There is ALWAYS "Machineries Handbook".

What kind of lathe and tooling are you using?

Machinery's Handbook should suffice for manual lathes using HSS tooling.

For high powered lathes, especially CNC, feeds and speeds are determined by the carbide insert used... both the mfg's specs and trial and error.

Appropriate surface footage, chip load, and required horsepower, determined by what you are cutting and what you are cutting it with, (who uses H.S.S. anymore?) were determined long before any of us started making parts. It is in the Machineries handbook.
