    Hi Bob,

Looks very interesting and will be able to give it a better look when you register my email. I bought a similar program to this a while back and will be interested in seeing how they compare.
Do you have a price in mind for the release version?

John, price hasn't been decided yet. We're still some months away from release. There will be several modules that all interact. First is the calculator. The next will be a g-code editor. I want to at least get the editor into Beta test as well before I start charging for the calculator.

    Cheers,

    BW

    GWIZARD

I have been using this software since last week I have real gave it a testing on the speeds and feeds I used and index-able drill and used the suggested speeds and feeds and i have to say it worked very well same with the boring bar i used i real wanted to see what this software can do and so far i am pleased. I would like to see something tool comp for turning though us lathe guys are still trying to wrap our heads around this since the rules change so often with turning.
    Great software so far.

Ron, thank you for your kind words. I'll have to take a look at some of that offsetting at some point, as well as adding more lathe functionality.

    Best,

The latest version of G-Wizard now sports a Tool Crib.

What that means is you can create a table of exactly the tools you own, or that are in your machine's toolchanger, and you can select those tools for the feeds and speeds calculator instead of having to fill out all the parameters every time. For example, here is the Feeds and Speeds calculator with the "Crib" box checked and a list of the current tooling defined in the Tool Crib:

You define your Tool Crib on this page:

You can enter any description you'd like to help you remember what the tool is. All the parameters are stored in the table so you don't have to tell the Feeds and Speeds calculator the diameter, type of tool, number of flutes, and all that other jazz every time you want to do a feeds and speeds calculation.

Should save a lot of steps and make the calculator even nicer to use.

The Beta Test is still under way and still free. Details on how to join may be found here:

    Bob,

It seems you have put a lot of work into this program and it looks very handy.

I have one question. Will there be consideration for metric users? Most machinist software I have seen still seems to be hung up on US standard units (it's 2010 people!). The captures shown all seem to be in inches...

    Thanks,

    Wes

Wes, the G-Wizard fully supports metric. There is a Setup setting that determines your preferred units. The front page general purpose calculator offers a variety of units as well as fractions.

Lastly, I am in the process of adding a Gibbscam-style capability for you to enter units in the other system. Say you have selected metric as you default and need to enter a 1/2" endmill. You would simply enter 0.5i and that tells the system to convert the inches to mm.

    Best,

Folks, as I write this G-Wizard is moving into final beta test. We have well over 1000 machinists using it and reporting it works well. A number of innovative features have been added since the Beta test program began, including:

    Cut Optimizer

For the first time a machinist's calculator helps you decide width and depth of cut based on minimizing tool deflection for roughing or finishing.

    G-Code Editor Integration:

The Feeds and Speeds module of G-Wizard is fully integrated with the upcoming G-Wizard G-Code Editor, making it easy to generate g-code directly from your Feeds and Speeds calculations.

    G-Code Reference:

    Plus a whole lot more.

As mentioned, we've moved into final Beta Test. We're still accepting new testers, and signup is free. Just click the "Try G-Wizard!" button on the home page here:

I wanted to let everyone know the Beta Test will be ending somewhere around the end of September. At that time, Beta Testers will receive a special offer on G-Wizard in appreciation of all the help you've given during the Beta Test. To be eligible, you have to be registered, so now is the time to check out G-Wizard if you think you might have any interest.

    Best Regards,

    Bob Warfield
